SmartSPIN at ENLIT 2022: towards more energy efficient buildings in Europe
What does the project consist of?
SmartSPIN is an EU-funded project that aims at developing a new business model to improve energy efficiency and flexibility in commercial rented sector across Europe. The SmartSPIN business solution is expected to deliver benefits to all the parties and to allow both owners and tenants to fully achieve the rewards of energy efficiency improvements and flexibility services while allocating the costs in a fair and more transparent way. During a three-years period, the project will implement, test, demonstrate, and validate its business model in three European pilot sites located in Spain, Greece and Ireland.
Why is it relevant to the public?
The SmartSPIN concept aims at removing the current market barriers hindering the development of smart energy services delivering energy efficiency to the commercial rented sector in Europe. To achieve such objective, SmartSPIN will successfully develop a new business model that will deliver benefits to all parties involved. The SmartSPIN business model will be validated through demonstrations and analysing data collected from three real case studies, that explore how smart energy services can be effectively deployed improving the existing business models that are currently applied in Europe. SmartSPIN will also develop tools to train all stakeholders involved in the value chain, as well as supporting policies to drive the market uptake of smart energy services in the commercial sector.
