SmartSPIN business model toolkit
During the last months Smarkia has been working on the development of the front-end of the Energy Management Data Platform with the aim to deliver personalised dashboards for the different stakeholders involved. On-going work seeks to integrate in this platform the algorithms for early building diagnostics and data-driven prognostics for operation and control carried out by Tecnalia from the beginning of the project.
Today, Smarkia is identifying which dashboard template fits better to each stakeholder – tenants, building or O&M manager, ESCO and Building Owner – and what is the best way to present the processes and characteristics of each site as well as the outcomes generated by the data-driven algorithms. In the upcoming months Smarkia expects to adapt the relevant information in the context of the SmartSPIN accessible to the stakeholders in a user-friendly manner.
Furthermore, Smarkia is currently developing a gamification strategy to engage tenants to take actions that will further reduce building energy consumption and be rewarded for doing so. As a first step, they are using the principles of gamification and creating panels that are accessible in Smarkia’s smartphone app and are able to compare the performance of tenants within the same building. However, the main challenge here is to secure tenants’ commitment to take actions to reduce building energy consumption.
The algorithms developed by Tecnalia has also been implemented in the development of an Application Programming Interface (API) and web dashboard to allow users to easily obtain the energy signature of their building diagnostics by providing minimal information (e.g., building typology, climate, energy use, etc.), but high-quality energy consumption dataset. In parallel, Tecnalia has also developed a useful Interactive web-app tool accessible to key stakeholders on the SmartSPIN website showing the potential for energy management in Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) in commercial building in Europe.
